- Redpath -

Redpath lies 2.5 miles south of Earlston, beside the Leader Water.  Although much smaller in size, it has a thriving community and much use is made of the renovated village hall.

The earliest reference to Redpath village was made in the twelfth century in a document mentioning Edward de Redpath with the comment  the place undoubtedly derived its name from the fact that it is built upon red sandstone, and a path cut in this would be noticeably red in this wooded country.
